Sticks and stones can break my bones, but names can never hurt me. Does anyone really think that adage holds true in this day and age? Words have the power to wound, degrade, heal, sell, inform, educate, turn on, turn off - the list goes on and on.
So why is so much porn presented as slu*ts, who*res, bitches, etc? Is that really what the majority of the male populace wants to see their women as? Subservient, less than them, something to be objectified and thrown away..? This isn't rhetorical, I really don't understand it sometimes. I mean, who can look at the lovely ladies and couples that I feature on these pages and ever think to use those terms with them? They are just comfortable with their bodies, with their sexuality - a comfort far too many of us are lacking in our lives.
Given how many adjectives we have in the English language - couldn't there be better, more effective words? I've either mentioned this before or on my writing site - I'm not trying to stage a revolution or condemn anyone. I understand the marketing reason why - what I want to know is what is going through people's heads.
There's already a preconceived notion of what someone is going to act when labeled with those words. All that leads to is virtually identical sites with virtually identical marketing with girls stripped of personality. And that just doesn't get me off.
For awhile I just thought I was way too picky - the super sites templates and designs just kind of blended in together. Most people working in the adult industry are very hardworking, very fun to work with - I'm not complaining about the people behind the sites.
I suppose I'm just complaining about those that buy into the terms again and again and again. When I was looking for sex toy porn sites that worked well with my blog - well you can see the results of that . Two out of far too many - that's kind of saddening to me.
The only thing I can really think to do is just keep my eyes open for sites that are sex positive and that cater to a memberbase that realizes that they don't have to objectify women as sex toys just to get off. You can get off just as well (for me, even better) when you see the women happy, enjoying themselves, enjoying what they are doing.
It's easy to tell - a look in the eyes, the way they hold their body, all the other little cues you get just by being aware of the other person. I think the main misconception is that there's an assumption that respectful means clean. Treating people in a respectful manner doesn't stop anyone from carrying that over into hardcore sex, BDSM, or any other particular niche.
Even in a niche where it seems completely geared towards degradation, you need to look beyond it. If you have ever heard the concept of power play, it is very easy to understand it can still be respectful. You just have to understand the interplay between the two people, be they slave and master or otherwise.
Just doing it just to do it - that's the crux of my problem. There's no big reason to keep referring to women in degrading terms - but keeping the status quo is easier than figuring out what else to use.
But hey, you're in luck. Here's a list of new words you can use when constructing a porn site, courtesy of the FEMJOY site. Just click
here - they have a full thesaurus there of great terms to use.
These are all just random thoughts of mine - agree, don't agree, it's up to you. I just like trying to figure out how people think and why things are the way they are. Sometimes the only way to do that is by rambling. If you got all the way through the post though, kudos! :)
