Let's face it - there are some really weird sex toy colors out there. You can pretty much make a full crayon box and more with the varied selection of sex toy colors. But what are the reasons behind this rainbow?

Some would say that it's a psychological thing. Women are often shamed into thinking any sexual expression is a bad thing. They want to get off, but they don't want to seem wanton. Grab the harmless pretty pink silicone dildo and you aren't being slutty, you're just getting a cute little accessory.

It's sad that our society can push that conditioning so much that some women are just too shy or shamed to get themselves a nice thick dildo. At the same time, they're adults. Wake up! Walk your own path, stop listening to media bullshit and childhood flashbacks. Now is a time to change and evolve and grow - don't keep the status quo!

A more practical reason given by some involves just being able to find it easier. You might not be able to find a flesh colored sex toy in the middle of the night, but that blazing white one? Yeah it's almost glowing in the center of the bed.

Another reason is a personality match. You're fun in bed and you don't want your toys to be the same old realistic things. You get plenty of real dick, so you get something completely different for your toys. This is a reason given by many glass sex toy owners, which leads into the next point...

Artistic dildos and vibrators. What, sex toys can't be art? I'm sorry, you're completely wrong! Just because it happens to be going into a pussy or traveling up an ass doesn't mean it can't be artistic too.

Many sex toys have a great deal of thought and design behind them - hours slaved over material, crafting, and all the little things that make you go oh (or OOOOH MY GOD for the screamers).

I've seen (and posted about) many sex toy designers that truly take the industry to a higher level. This level is filled with things like standards, innovations, and erotic artistry. It's a level I hope all sex toy manufacturers get to.

The psychological effects of some colors can not be ignored as well. Colors have their own properties, their own auras, and their own meanings which vary from person to person. Would the red vibrator work for you or the purple - it all depends on how you perceive the colors.

The last reason is the obvious one: Why the hell not? If something can be done, it normally is done, and with gusto. This seems to be the case for the spectrum of colors many sex toys boast.
